Mary Cosby
Minister Mary A. Cosby was born in Camden South Carolina to James and Mary Furman. She was educated at Hickman Elementary School in Cassatt, SC and graduated from Baron Dekalb High School in Westville, SC. She grew up in Zion Hill AME Zion Church where she served as Preschool Sunday School teacher, Usher, and Sunday School secretary.
In 1974 Min. Cosby joined the United States Army, where she served for twenty years. While serving in the military, she attended various churches throughout the United States, Korea and Europe. Upon her return from Berlin, Germany in November 1991, she decided to settle down at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Where She served as the Director of Christian Education, Youth Director, Vacation Bible School Director, Deaconess Director, Young Adults Advisor, teacher and president of WMU, Adult Sunday School Teacher, and she mentored young girls at Marie Detty.
In 1998 she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and an Associate of Science from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was licensed to preach on March 14,2004. Her passion is for women and youth. Her desire is to see women fulfilling the call of God in their lives and to be empowered for service.
Min Cosby continues to serve faithfully as Assistant Pastor of Harvest Plenty House of Prayer, President of WMU, Sunday School Teacher and Director of Christian Education. She is married to Deacon Charles L. Cosby, Sr. They are the parents of three children: Rhonda, Charles and Christian Cosby and one grandson: Wyatt.
Min Cosby stands on the word of God and knows that she can do all things through Christ who strengthens her. She has been called, appointed, anointed and ordained by God to preach the Gospel. One of her favorite Scriptures is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.
