The Holy Spirit is God’s helper sent to help and comfort us! “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you”, John 14:16-17. Holy Spirit wants and needs to dwell on the INSIDE of us to work. It is internally, where we can receive and operate in the power and authority of Jesus Christ.
Why won’t we let him fill us and dwell daily in us? It is dangerous not to allow the Spirit of God to rule and super-rule in our lives. Unfilled people become a target for the adversary. “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first”, Matthew 12:43-45. Repentance and avoiding sin is good, but we must take the next step and allow the Holy Spirit to fill the habitation of our hearts. Then the adversary has no place to return in our lives. It’s like taking the last seat in the game of musical chairs. The Holy Spirit has taken the seat, the rightful place of our hearts before the devil can sit down.
So today, open up and let the Holy Spirit into your life. He will fill you with the greatest treasure — love! “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us”, Romans 5:5.
